Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Wine Advocate, 8/2007

It displays an enticing bouquet of balsam wood, spice box, pencil lead, black currant and blackberry. Medium bodied on the palette, it is a ripe, dense, savory, plush effort

2005 Du Brul Vineyard Reserve: 91 points

The Purple colored DuBrul Vineyard Reserve is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc that spent 22 months in 67% new French oak. It displays an enticing bouquet of balsam wood, spice box, pencil lead, black currant and blackberry. Medium bodied on the palette, it is a ripe, dense, savory, plush effort that has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. It offers a drinking window extending from 2011 to 2021.

2006 Syrah Ciel du Cheval: 90 points

There is one Rhone-based wine in the collection, the 2006 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, (100%  Varietal) aged in 40% new French and Hungarian oak. The nose exhibits smoked meat, bacon and blueberry, leading to a full-bodied dense chewy wine with plenty of succulent fruit, some structure and a friendly personality. It can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years.
